Job Overview:
​
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Professional Commercial Dance & Performance
Course Leader to lead and manage our newest vocational training program. This role requires
an individual with a passion for training elite performers, a deep understanding of the
professional commercial dance industry, and the ability to develop and enhance our reputation
as a leading institution in performing arts education.

Key Responsibilities:
​​
Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the Professional Commercial Dance &
Performance Degree Course, ensuring excellence in training and student outcomes.​

Develop, implement, and regularly review the curriculum to maintain industry relevance and alignment with professional standards.

Work closely with academic and industry partners to ensure accreditation standards are met and exceeded.

Oversee student recruitment, admissions, auditions and retention strategies to attract top-tier talent.

Manage course timetabling, staffing, and resources effectively to deliver a world-class training experience.
Vocational Training & Student Development:​

Oversee the delivery of high-quality, industry-focused training across dance, social/digital and performance disciplines.

Ensure students receive rigorous technical training, creative development, and career preparation tailored to industry demands.

Foster an environment of discipline, creativity, and professionalism to prepare students for the realities of the entertainment industry.

Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to students throughout their training journey.
Industry Engagement & Course Brand Development:

Develop and strengthen partnerships with industry professionals, casting directors, agents, production companies, and choreographers to enhance career opportunities for graduates.

Raise the profile of the Professional Commercial Dance & Performance Degree Course through strategic marketing, outreach, and engagement activities.

Ensure the course is widely recognized for producing elite talent ready to succeed in professional performance careers.

Organize masterclasses, workshops, and guest lectures with leading industry figures to enrich student learning.
Outreach, Recruitment & Student Experience:

Work with Marketing & Outreach to deliver student recruitment efforts by promoting the course at open days, outreach events and industry/trade events.

Build strong relationships with schools, colleges, and performing arts institutions to attract top-tier applicants.

Enhance the overall student experience by fostering a culture of excellence, inclusion and well-being.

Drive initiatives to increase diversity and accessibility within the course and wider institution.

Operational & Strategic Contributions:

Work collaboratively with the senior leadership team to shape the overall vision and strategic direction of Dancebox Studios & Theatre Works.

Contribute to faculty development by recruiting, training, and supporting exceptional educators and guest artists.

Ensure compliance with regulatory and academic requirements, maintaining high standards across all aspects of course delivery.

Lead on alumni engagement, tracking graduate success and leveraging their achievements to further enhance course reputation.
Person Specification:
Essential

Significant experience in professional commercial dance, film & TV performance, or performing arts education at a senior level.

Proven track record of managing and developing vocational training programs with a strong industry focus.

Extensive industry connections and the ability to foster relationships that benefit student progression and employability.

Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.

Passion for developing and mentoring the next generation of elite performers.

Ability to work flexibly and adaptively in a fast-paced and dynamic training environment.
Desirable

Job Overview:
​
We are seeking an inspiring, dynamic, and experienced individual to lead our Sixth Form
Dance course. The Sixth Form Dance Course Leader will be responsible for shaping and
delivering an exceptional dance curriculum that prepares students for both academic success
and vocational excellence. This role involves strategic management of the course, ensuring
high-quality teaching and learning, and establishing a strong, reputable presence in the
performing arts industry.

Key Responsibilities:​​​

​Course Leadership & Management
​

Curriculum Development: Design and regularly review the Sixth Form Dance curriculum to ensure it is current, challenging, and aligned with examination board requirements and industry standards.

Timetabling & Scheduling: Coordinate dance classes, workshops, rehearsals and theory sessions, ensuring efficient use of time and resources.

Quality Assurance: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning, using data-driven insights to inform improvements.
Exceptional Student Experience

Student Progress & Attainment: Track student performance and progress, implementing intervention strategies to support individual needs and ensuring students reach their full potential.

Pastoral Care: Work closely with the Pastoral team to provide guidance, mentorship, and support, addressing both academic and personal development.

Enrichment Opportunities: Work with the Head of Performances to organize performances. Developing and delivering additional masterclasses, trips and special projects to broaden students’ exposure to various dance styles and practitioners.

Facilities & Equipment: Oversee the maintenance and procurement of dance studio equipment and facilities, ensuring health, safety, and high-quality experiences for students.
Vocational Teaching & Industry Engagement

Practical & Theoretical Instruction: Deliver high-quality dance training, balancing practical technique with theoretical understanding (e.g., dance history, choreography, and performance analysis).

Professional Standards: Ensure students gain exposure to industry best practices, including HE audition preparation and progression advice.

Developing the Course Brand & Reputation

Marketing & Promotion: Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop promotional materials and strategies, highlighting the successes and distinctive qualities of the Sixth Form Dance course.

Audition & Admissions: Oversee the admissions and audition process, work with admissions administrators to ensure an exceptional experience for prospective students from first enquiry to joining the course.

Showcases & Performances: Work with the Head of Performances to coordinate performances, showcases, and events, representing the course’s creative excellence and building its reputation in the wider community.

Outreach & Community Engagement

Community Partnerships: Work with the Marketing & Outreach team to develop relationships with local dance/performing arts schools and community schools to raise awareness of the course and achieve high quality student recruitment.

Recruitment Activities: Represent the Sixth Form Dance course at open evenings, career fairs, and performing arts events to attract prospective students and stakeholders.

Alumni Network: Develop and maintain relationships with former students, providing a supportive network that can offer mentorship, performance opportunities, and industry connections.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Experience:

A relevant degree (Dance, Performing Arts, Education) and preferably a teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).

Proven track record of successful dance teaching at post-16 or equivalent level.

Experience in course leadership, curriculum planning, and staff management is highly desirable.

Professional industry experience in dance and performing arts is advantageous.
